“(I was struck by) the presentation and focus on coercive control for people that don’t work in the (domestic family violence) sector or have never thought of it as DFV. It was a masterpiece.”

THE PLAY
Ophelia is sixteen. She doesn’t have any friends – let alone a boyfriend – her mother has just passed away, and she’s stuck in a small town under the thumb of her controlling older brother. #LiterallyTheWorst.
Enter the mysterious and charming Hamish. He’s smart, totally rebellious and older. Much older. Hamish promises Ophelia freedom from her tumultuous home life, and offers her a glimpse into a darter underworld, the likes of which she can only imagine.
Set against the backdrop of Far North Queensland, this haunting, memorable and visually striking work tackles prevalent patterns of co-dependency and coercive control impacting the relationships of teens and young adults today.
O, Ophelia presents a story of reclaimed agency, transforming the ghost of a beautiful tragedy into a young woman with life and with choice.
